When we had some work done in our house, we also added in the whole house water filtration. I love it! It "lives" in the basement and uses a small and easily replaced filter. We change the filter every three to four months (the timing depends on water usage levels). The filters are inexpensive and can be purchased at Home Depot, Loews, or Republic Plumbing Supply. It was relatively inexpensive and has been money well spent. The cold water tends to run a bit slower as the filter gets muddied up, this resolves immediately upon a filter change. I would recommend it -- we had ours installed by our plumber.

You've probably considered this already, but with whole house filtration, I'm pretty sure you are filtering all water you use -that means even the toilet water. We have filters at our kitchen sink, and the bathroom upstairs (so we can get a drink of water without going downstairs, and while brushing teeth). We also have shower filters. This seems quite sufficient for us, and less expensive than a whole house system (unit + labor of putting it in). I'm not sure whole house units last as long, either.

We buy through Pure Earth Technologies. or sales@ pure-earth.com. I"m sure you'll get Jeff, as we always do. He's great.

Good luck,
