I hired Home Depot At Home Services to blow in attic insulation last year (it is owens-corning fiberglass, not cellulose) and while the sub contractor that came and did the work was good, and indeed my house was much warmer and my utility bills much lower last winter, working with Home Depot was THE WORST experience I have ever had.

Whatever you do, do NOT hire Home Depot At Home Services (they stand at the entrance to Home Depot offering free estimates.) My recommendation would be to go directly to someone who does the work, unfortunately I do not recall the name of the company that HD actually sub-contracted to do the work.

Good luck. 9/10/2007

I strongly recommend you start by going through Mass Save. We did and got a 50% rebate on the insulation.

I also STRONGLY recommend that EVERYONE get an energy audit and if you're not sure about your insulation, have it checked. We had Anderson blow in insulation (fiberglass) and could notice the difference immediately. Even on very hot days in August, our AC was not kicking in. The house got below 70 at night and then never got up to 75, which is where we set the thermostat. Before we insulated, we could feel the heat coming in. Even without the rebate, we'll probably pay for the insulation in under a year.

I'd second support for both Anderson and MassSAVE program(rebate up to $1500). The only difference is that we've asked for Icenyne insulation. Happy with service and results.
