Bill Newton

:-) Based on a fellow framcom member’s recommendation (September 2007), I called up Bill Newton to order a ½ cord of seasoned firewood. I left a message on his machine and he called me back the next day. Very nice, quoted me $125 for ½ cord seasoned wood delivered. He gave me a date of about three weeks out, which was today. He arrived here promptly at 3pm, with seasoned wood uniformly cut. A pleasure to do business with, and he takes personal checks. His phone number is .

Jeff Farfard

<:( <:( My wife ordered "seasoned hardwood". He was supposed to deliver it at 1:00PM, called at 9:00 AM to say he could deliver it at 11:00AM. He then showed up at 9:30AM & asked where he could dump it. Before I could get my shoes on, he was already dumping it my driveway. I handed him the check without thinking. I didn't really like the looks of the wood. When I started to restack it, I noticed that alot of it had no bark, & the rest the bark fell off when I picked it up. I now suspect the reason he was so early is that the first person he was delivering it to refused the wood (hence his very quick dumping it in my driveway).

Some of the wood was moldy or had mushrooms growing on it. There's a few pieces of cedar mixed in, as well as some other wood I can't even identify. There was even two pieces of pressure-treated wood in the mix! Most of the other wood is extremely wet. It wouldn't burn unless I mixed it with good wood & use lots of kindling. I've resorted to splitting the logs again so they will dry faster (although they are no longer log size after this step!).

JT's Firewood

<:( <:( On November 2, 2006 I placed an order with JT's Firewood (http://www.jtstreeandlandscape.com/door/) to deliver a seasoned cord. The woman on the phone was very nice and they dropped off the wood the next day. As I moved the wood to my patio that weekend I noticed it was a bit wet and dirty but chalked it up to the torrential rains we'd had the previous weekend. I also moved a bunch inside to my log rack in my living room. I tried to light a fire that night with firestarters and newspaper - it was a mighty struggle.

I waited 2 weeks for the logs to dry out indoors. To no avail, it still steamed, needed nursing, and was growing mold. I called JT's and the nice woman on the phone said she'd have Jeff look into it.

We get into the week after Thanksgiving and I still haven't heard from Jeff, so I call again. Woman on the phone (still nice!) assures me that a new load of dry wood will be dropped off the next day. This didn't happen.

We're now quite a ways into December and my wood still sizzles and steams, making a relaxing fire an unbearable chore. This with the "seasoned" wood that has been a heated living room since November 2. I feel like I've been played and wrote this to save someone else the trouble.

Tetreault and Sons Forest MNGT

85 Haynes Hill Road, Brimfield

:-) I had good luck with Tetreault and Son for the past 10 years or so. They're located in Brimfield, MA. They seem to send trucks to the Framingham area about twice a week. They are professional foresters, and their wood always arrives clean and well seasoned. My only complaint is that they deliver by 18 wheeler, which is a problem if you have a narrow driveway. Call them for a price. Their number is .
