I am a certified NLP life coach, and have extensive training in how people change.
Coaching emphasizes generative change, concentrating on the development of new strategies for thinking and acting to achieve specific goals. Like a private sports coach would work with you individually to improve your game of tennis, or golf, etc., a personal life coach works with you individually to improve your life, or a specific area in your life.
Traditional coaching is typically focused at a behavioral level, helping a person to improve a particular behavioral performance, like how to better manage your time, or how to change your career. It focuses on what to “do” differently. In the book, From Coach to Awakener, by Robert Dilts, he calls this small “c” coaching.
I am trained in what he calls Large “C” coaching. This kind of coaching helps people achieve outcomes by working on a range of levels. Sometimes for change to occur, one needs to work at a level of mental strategies (how you think), or beliefs and values (what drives you), or identity (how you perceive yourself and your role), or sometimes even at a spiritual level. Mere knowledge of what you need to do (a behavioral level) is not always enough. You have probably experienced this before.
As a Large “C” coach using NLP, I have the methodology to determine at what level change needs to occur, and how to facilitate the change most easily. It is done in a manner that will empower you, rather than having you feel like I am the big hero with all the answers.
By working at the appropriate level of change needed, and working in ways deeper than just giving tips and advice, new behaviors and responses often become effortless and automatic. Together, you and I close the gap between where you are and where you want to be.
