Recommendation: Professional work at a reasonable cost

Thank you,

Michael Clow 11/12/2007

I enthusiastically recommend Richard Carl. Ric and his men do an excellent job painting and really listen to their customers. They are polite, cheerful, appropriate around children, and clean up well after themselves. They have much experience and a consistently positive reputation for work in and around Framingham. They are reliable and do great work.

Linardi Painting

(508) 872-5657

Wellington Linardi has been back to do the exterior of my house, and as expected did a great job. He power washed the house (and my lawn furniture, because he noticed that it was dirty), sanded (not scraped), and painted. He also did some carpentry repairs (shutters & gutters). He came each day until the job was complete, and his crew was respectful and professional. He did a lot of little extras, and the house looks great. I HIGHLY recommend him!!

Wellington Linardi has painted the exterior of my house, the interior of the nursing home where I work. He also has done extensive work on the homes of friends, which included some light carpentry in addition to the paining. The quality of his work is excellent, and it comes at a very reasonable price.

Linda Dunbrack on 1/7/07

Wellington Linardi just finished painting my sunroom. He came when he said he would and did a great job on the painting. He’s a real professional, and I will certainly use him again.

Mann Painting Co.

Christopher P. Manolian,
Mann Painting Company,
Po Box 3453,
Framingham, MA 01705-3453
508-877-4533

We hired Mann Painting to stain our house about 18 months ago. Chris is a very personable likeable guy, writes a good fair quote, starts out strong, but doesn't finish the job. His crew would show up for a few hours, then disappear to work on another job, might or might not show up the next day. He was doing something funny with the tint of the stain; he used the correct stain color to start, but part way through changed the color slightly but noticeably. He first claimed the colors were the same, it was just the lighting conditions, but I brought in an electronic color meter and together we tested the stain on the various walls; there were indeed two different colors on the house, visible to the eye and confirmed by the meter. We made almost daily phone calls to get him to come back and finish the job. Finally his foreman showed up with one other painter one Sunday morning and worked steadily for a solid day to repaint the off-color areas and touch up the 19 areas on my punch list. At the end of the day the job wasn't quite as good in all aspects as I expected, but it was sufficiently done, I wasn't sure I could get them to come back again, and we were tired of the hassle of dealing with Mann Painting. So we signed off on the job and gave him the final check.

Two of our neighbors later told us they had used Mann to paint their home, they had the same experience in that he wouldn't finish the job without numerous phone calls on their part, and they wouldn't recommend Mann to anyone. One of the neighbors threatened to sue Mann to get him to come back and finish the job.

I used Mann painting to paint our bathroom. It was supposed to be done while we were away on a vacation. When I returned it was half done and the job was horrible. The walls were not prepped at all and I have to say the painter painted over hair on the back of the bathroom door. It took us ages to get him to come back. Also, one night very late one of their crew showed up looking for his car keys. When I opened the door a bit he pushed his way in and went through the entire house. I hate to be judgemental but the painter looked like he had just gotten out of Walpole....I had heard from many people after that they were the worst painters around. He also brought his child to our home to do some of the painting and one day his wife was supposed to come and prep the walls but she called to say she needed to go grocery shopping instead...After much aggrevation and refills on Paxil I am glad to be rid of Chris and his crew.

Chris was very friendly and gave me a good feeling about his work ethic but in the end he was totally unreliable. I feel sorry for people who do not know about him and have to go through a frustrating process.

Jim Meninno

508-879-1256

I recommend Jim Meninno. While you may think I am biased because we are related, I just had him paint 6 rooms in my house and was more than happy. And just to let you know I had the choice of three painters in the family.

Jacqueline Menino on 12/25/06 --- Jim recently painted the entire interior of my new house including walls, trim, balusters, and windows. Jim's prep work and painting was absolutely meticulous. A very high recommendation for Jim Meninno!

Dean Webster on 1/11/07

I HIGHLY recommend Jimmy Meninno.

Yesterday he finished painting our entry, stairway, upstairs hall and a bedroom. He also fixed a less than perfect job my husband did in a bathroom.

He did a great job at a reasonable price. He's also a really nice guy who was a pleasure to have around.

I second Jimmy Meninno. He does meticulous work and is an absolute pleasure to work with.

Mike Morelli

508-485-7724

I give my highest recommendation to Michael Morelli, 5pm, for his interior painting and staining. His work on my ceilings, walls and woodwork was perfect! In many cases he had to patch previous holes and damage, and help me match colors and stains. Michael arrived on schedule, stayed until the job was finished, and cleaned the entire area where he had worked. I would be pleased to recommend for any interior work that you need done this winter!

Great work!

Maureen Dunne 12/5/09

Michael Morelli has painted almost every room in my house, and did the exterior this past summer. We've known him for 10 yrs and he is fabulous.

Marie Yang on 12/26/06

I have posted before about this fellow but thought it might be worthy of another shot. A couple of Framcomers called him the last time. His name is Mike Morelli and he is excellent and very reasonable. I spoke with him this evening and things are tough this time of year so he said he could maybe cut a little to keep him busy. I have used him several times and have been more than pleased with both the price and the service. He is a rare breed for these days. He shows up when he says he will, does the job beautifully and always cleans up after himself. His phone number is 508 485-7724 If you have been putting off doing a room now is the time to do it.

Ellen LaRose 1/1/09

PS He also does outdoor painting when weather permits.

Hi All, I wanted to echo a previous recommendation on Framcom for a great painter. Michael Morelli has just completed a good-sized job at our house and we are very pleased with his work. Besides being thorough, neat and skilled, he was also prompt, dependable and easy to have around. He does both interior and exterior painting. I felt his rates were reasonable and fair.

Alison Quackenbush 02/13/09

We wanted to add some more positive comments for Michael Morelli. We are currently having him painting multiple interior rooms including our bathrooms, kitchen, bedroom, and hallway. He has also stripped some wallpaper for us and stained some woodwork. We got his name based on all the previous wiki recommendations and I have to agree with all of their previous positive comments. I want to add that Mike is also an animal lover and has done great with all 3 of our dogs along with our 6 parrots. This is very helpful because one of our dogs has some people issues. It can be a challenge to have workmen in the house. Mike charges by the day and initially I was worried about how that would translate for our cost. Turns out I didn't have to worry. Mike's work ethic is incredible. He shows up on time, works all day, takes only a quick lunch, and easily works 8.5-9 hours daily. This makes his rate very fair and reasonable for a professional painter. Mike is very neat, his prep work is detailed, and he has great ideas to help make painting projects look great. He is also very good at cutting in and doesn't need to use painter's tape which speeds up the whole painting process. We were amazed at how much work he was able to complete in a week with very high standards. It is also very nice that he is easy to get along with and we actually enjoyed having him come and paint in our house. We plan to have more interior painting done this winter because in the early spring Mike gets busy painting exteriors.

Ni Senra

cell: 774-573-0983

I have a fabulous painter, Ni Senra, who has painted my whole house, inside and out. Everyone I have referred him to has loved him and has referred him to others. Early evenings are best since he is often out of cell phone reach in the daytime.

Dan Peirce, of Peirce Home Improvement

Another enthusiastic plug for Dan Peirce, of Peirce Home Improvement. He has always done a fabulous job for me and for any anyone who has hired him on my recommendation. He is very responsive to his customers' needs and time frames, and cleans up beautifully each day so you don't feel like you're living in a mess.

He also does minor and major carpentry and all sorts of other projects, large and small. Right now he is working on mostly outside construction jobs, so if you are looking for indoor painting projects, this rainy weather means you may be able to get him to do your job fairly quickly. He works either alone, or with a partner depending on the size of the job, and has done fairly large jobs for me in a day or two, depending on the complexity.

Please tell him I sent you. Roberta Unger. 31 Jul 2009

We just had Joe Willis do 3 rooms for us, stripping wallpaper - patching up the walls, and painting. He did a really good at a very good price.

Angel's Painting

500 Edgell Rd.
Framingham

I am recommending to NOT use Angel's Painting to stain your deck.

They did a terrible job refinishing our deck and painting our house trim last year. The roof integrity was destroyed when Angel's "professional" hired-help repeated ran up the roof valley. I have had to replace two entire roof areas (i.e.. half of the garage roof and the back of the house roof = several thousand dollars in repair!). The paint job has not lasted through one winter! It is pealing horribly. I had asked Angel to look me in the eye and tell me that the paint would last until Spring.... he could not because he knew the job was done wrong; but, he wanted payment anyway. By spring; we had many patches of bare wood.

They painted over the old paint even though they signed a contract stating that they would sand the old paint first. I kept the signed contract and used that to chase off Angel's lawyer who was seeking the remaining $2,500 for the four (part-time) days of labor / painting costs spent on this job. I also have lots of photographs documenting all of the damage. The $2,500 down payment might as well have been thrown away because applying new paint on top of old paint has caused more damage than it has corrected.

To make matters worse... I had chosen a nice cedar-colored stain, but they applied a clear grey stain by accident. They offered to refinish; but I wanted them off the job because I was very upset by the way they argued about the roof damage and about the bad trim work (which includes broken window screens and paint stains on window sills and down sides of house). I preferred to have them stay away. Let's not even talk about the subsequent water damage inside the house caused by the damaged roof!

I was hoping that my deck would look similar to my neighbor's deck which is the same style, same age, and same wood batch. My neighbor's deck was built at the same time as mine by the same contractor. Their deck is a gorgeous cedar stain. They finished it themselves and it was done properly. My deck is splintered and grey... it looks like something from cape cod! Our house trim is blistered and pealing off in strips. We will be looking for a reputable painter next spring. I decided NOT to repair anything this summer!

Mark Tognacci

508-596-7722

I highly recommend Mark Tognacci for all of your painting needs. I have known him for close to 15 years and say without a doubt that he is the best. Workmanship is second to none, quotes are dead on in both cost and duration, and we completely trust him. On several occasions my wife and I have said nothing more than "we need a change" before going away on vacation. The big joke while away is "what will it look like when we get back". I gotta tell you, we've never been disappointed.

In addition to painting, he does construction/remodeling with as much attention to detail as his painting. It's as if he was doing the work for himself or his family.

You can tell him I gave you his number.
