I just had a series of items altered and repaired (as in "I can't even sew on my own buttons") at Always Elegant Alterations They were personable and the work was done very quickly. They are a new business but the owner has 5 years of experience. Easy in and out parking and entrance. Give them a try!

For years my wife, kids and I have been going to a wonderful person who is a terrific tailor/seamstress and who does alterations. She has done lots of jobs for us over the years on projects ranging from blanket repair and all kinds of clothing to tablecloths. I just returned home with the pants she just did for me, and I'm so pleased that I felt I wanted to alert others in our community to her business: Annette's Tailorshop. If you go, please feel free to say the Finsteins recommended you.

Destaque Alterations

Framingham MA 01702

There is a wonderful young Brazilian woman names Gilvane located on the second floor of an old building right in downtown Framingham (directly across from the Concord St side entrance to Memorial Hall). She does excellent work cheaply, quickly and well. I have used her for hems, take-ins after weight loss, alternations of men's suits. Everything has been beautifully done. And she speaks excellent English. (She recently took over from two women who returned to Brazil and who didn't speak English). Her place is Destaque Alterations, 171 Concord St. , Framingham MA 01702 508 872-6262. She's open daily to 6 pm, Saturdays to 3 pm.

G & G Tailors

847 Edgell Road
Framingham
508) 405-2430

I have had repeated good luck with the Greek lady at G & G Tailors on Edgell Road near Nobscot. (Behind Datti's liquors). She has repaired/ adjusted numerous items for us over the last 10 years. Everything from hemming slippery dance costumes to replacing the zipper on a heavy parka. She is very sweet and it's always a pleasure to see her. Good luck!

I heartily second Ronda's endorsement of G&G - they are located right near the Nobscot Cafe. The woman there does excellent work. Someone mentioned Mario who was located on Union Ave. Unfortunately for his customers Mario has retired. I was one of his customers, but now I go to G&G.

We have been going to a tailor/cleaners for years. The talor's name is Georgia and the name of her business is the "G&G". It is in the plaza where the Nobscot Cafe is. The tailor shop is the second one from the end in between a hairdressers and a chinese restaurant. She is honest and if the article is not worth the $$ she will tell you. We get our clothes altered their all the time. I even think that she makes clothes (years ago Nick the tailor used to be in downtown Framingham, remember him?) and when he retired we went to the "G&G". Good Luck.

The woman at G&G Tailors inside Royal Cleaners on Edgell Rd, just south east of Edgell/Water St/Edmands Rd intersection, replaced the inner and outer zippers on my son's winter coat 2-3 years ago and the next boy is now happily wearing the coat. She is still there; this winter I took her a dress that needed shortening and rehemming.

LING

222 Water Street
(508) 877 8668
Open M-F 9:30 - 6 SAT 11 - 6

My wife and I have been using Ling's on Water Street for a couple of years and have been quite happy. Her prices are good, her turnaround is fairly quick (usually within a few days) and she has always done good work.

My wife had her replace a zipper on a full length winter coat, and it looks and works like brand new. She did a repair on the frayed cuffs of one of my coats using material from inside the coat, and you can't even tell there was an a repair. I go there frequently for pants alterations, and have never been dissatisfied.

I can recommend Ling (I don't know her last name.) She lives on Water Street just east of Fairfield Drive. She does very fine work and I think her prices are more than reasonable.

Stop in to see this lady, Chinese, on Water Street. From the Methodist Church at the intersection of Water and Brook, go towards Central Street, probably about halfway. There will be a sign that says "Alterations for Men and Women", or something like that. She works from her residence, has next to no overhead, so her prices are great, and her work is even better.

thanks

In addition, Ling's will not only tell you what she can do, but also what she CANNOT do, that being repair which are simply not worth wasting our money on. She would rather keep a customer happy than take $10 for a repair with a very short shelf life. This lady is absolutely excellent.

I would like to recommend a great tailor that I just used. He was recommended to me by a friend in the area. I used him to alter my wedding dress. He does great work at a very reasonable price. It only cost $65 to alter my dress.
