Scott has helped me out a couple of times. He's a one man show who does this work on the side. Great to deal with.

I'd like to put a good word in about Scott Tompkins, earlier recommended by Steve Orr.
My snowblower tried to swallow a Boston Globe. As many of us already know, the Globe is sometimes hard to swallow, and even harder to spit out. The result: a badly bent impellor blade banging and scraping it's housing.
My local hardware store told me it would take 3 weeks, plus possibly several more weeks for a new part to arrive. I read Steve's framcom post and called Scott.
I cannot praise Scott enough. He came right away, impressed me with his knowledge, with his well-focused questions, with the thoroughness of his description of what he proposed to do as well as with his general demeanor. He's a tall, quiet, modest, almost self-effacing and very interesting fellow. At the promised time, Scott returned with my snow blower.
Scott had fixed the damage, no new part needed, thank you, changed the oil, adjusted the scraper blade and skid plates better than they had been since he snowblower was new, made other adjustments, cleaned the carburator, re-painted the area where the impellor housing had been scraped down to bare metal, and for this entire job, Scott charged less than I usually pay just for an oil change and the routine annual maintenace.
My snowblower has been serviced 6-7 times, and he has never been happier... or is a snowblower a she?
A Happy New Year to All.

I have had exceptional service from Boston Lawnmower. Small engines is all they do; consequently they are expert. Dave Kennedy is the manager.

We sent our almost 20 yr old snowblower out to Irrigation Pipe Lighting & Equipment for a much needed tune up and some repairs. They just delivered it back to us and it looks and runs like new! This is the third experience we've had with IPL, and we've always found them to be extremely helpful and very reasonably priced. The wind may be blowing leaves around today, but soon enough the snowflakes will be flying! If your machine needs servicing, give them a call!

I would go to Robinson's ACE Hardware in Pinefield Plaza. They have fabulous customer service and they do repair lawn mowers. I personally know the owner, Jeff Underwood. He and he son, Justin, are always there. They have everything you need and are focused on providing you with excellent advice on "how to" for virtually anything on your list of repairs or needs.
When you go, introduce yourself to Jeff or Justin and tell them Rob sent you.

Check Robinson's Ace Hardware. They were able to repair my snowblower in three days when all the other repair places said it would take two weeks or they couldn't fix my particular brand of snowblower at all. I took it to their Hudson store, but that was before the one opened in Pinefield.

I would recomend bringing your chainsaw in to Jeff at Robinson's Ace Hardware in the Pinefield Shopping Center. They do small engine repai which includes chainsaws.

I'm not sure how the powers that be feel about negative feedback here, but my experiences with Waverly Tool has irked me to the point that I think it warrants saying something.
A couple of years ago, I took a snow blower to them for tune up service. It went in in June, and didn't come back to me until the end of August. Obviously, I didn't use it for a while, but when I did, a piece fell off the bottom (the metal edge that scrapes the ground, directing snow into the blade). It also seemed to bog down easily, and snow continually froze in the chute. This hadn't been an issue before they worked on it. I called, and their response was that it didn't really need the edge part, and that the snow had been particularly heavy recently. I didn't think much of it after that, except that I've had to spray oil down the chute several times whenever I use it.
This summer, my lawn mower wouldn't start, so I called them again. They got the machine in and turned it around in a week, which was great. It came home, and when I started it up, a strange whirring noise was coming from the front end. I called immediately, and they gave me the "don't worry, be happy" song. Because of my prior experience, it went right back down to have them check out. They took it into the shop, did something to it, and brought it out, saying it just needed to be lubricated. Fine...back into the car, home again, onto the lawn, fire it up, and........the front wheel FELL OFF! I took it apart myself, and realized there was an important washer missing, which was causing the problem. They didn't have the part, and had no idea how it could have gone missing.
Today I went to Wayland Power Tools for a part for the snow blower and ask the guy about snow sticking in the chute. He tells me it's probably because the blade isn't turning fast enough; either a worn belt, or something else slowing the motor. I will Never Ever go back to Waverly Tool again!!
