I am endorsing CHRISTINE LONG for Planning Board and I would like to share my reasons. My husband, Stephen and I have been Framingham residents for 12 years, and our 3 children attend the Framingham public schools, with our oldest, Joshua, a senior at the high school and our middle child, Samuel, a 6th grader at Walsh and our youngest, Abigail, a 1st grader at Hemenway.
Like you, my home is my biggest investment and in these volatile economic times, my family and I are eager to see our investment keep its value. People move to Framingham for its schools, its proximity to Boston, the shopping as well as the cultural events available all over town. We've been very happy here and want to see Framingham prosper. Proposition 2 1/2 limits the amount of taxes a town can levy on its residents, and i support that. However, the excellent services we enjoy here have to be paid for and enhancing (or increasing) our tax base is an intelligent way to make funds available.
Christine has been active in town government for over a decade. She has been a town meeting member for 10 years, has been the Chair of the Standing Committee on Public Works for 4 years, served as Chair of Government Study Committee and associate on Zoning Board of Appeals. She knows this town government and its needs. She knows the law and will make wise decisions on the Planning Board: decisions that thoughtfully increase revenue, sited appropriately in areas of town that need development and redevelopment. She understands the law, and how that law pertains to the Planning Board. She meets a payroll and lives within her means. Christine will represent OUR interests, and those of our families on the Planning Board.
