Save-a-Dog
We got our dog in 2000 from www.saveadog.org. I just checked the website, and it is still active. I would guess that they have some golden retrievers, but look through it on your own and you can make your own decisions. I will state that the local people involved with this organization were caring, mature, very well informed, and frankly, quite smart about the type of dog that would best suit us at that time with two pre-teen kids. We have absolutely no regrets about what they recommended, as they were 100% correct.

I'm so terribly sorry to hear about the loss of your family member. They can be such people in dog suits, and I'm sure your family misses yours terribly.I've always adopted shelter dogs (and some have just shown up on my doorstep,) but a dear friend, who happens to have physical disabilities, has adopted a number of Goldens through Golden Retriever Rescue.
